Submental Liposuction

A double chin comes from excess fat under the chin and jaw — from weight gain, but often from genetics or aging. People often feel their face and neck look heavier and older than their body, with poor jaw-neck definition. Removing this fat is one of the most satisfying ways to create a youthful, chiselled jawline.

This minimally invasive procedure removes the fat permanently. It can be paired with a chin implant, FaceTite or NeckTite skin tightening, or a surgical face and neck lift with platysmaplasty for loose muscles.

Performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation, at our on-site facility. Two to three small openings under the earlobes (sometimes under the chin) admit a small cannula to remove fat and contour the jawline — again requiring anatomical expertise to protect the nerves and vessels and avoid irregularities.

Rest the first day, with light activity after. A compression band is worn around the face and jaw for one week, then nights only for an additional two weeks. Most patients return to work at about one week and avoid heavy lifting or impact for two weeks. Bruising resolves within a week and major swelling within two weeks, with the final contour maturing by about six months.
